Nicholas Halmi is University Lecturer in Romantic Literature at Oxford University and a Fellow of University College, Oxford. He is a Visiting Professor in English at Stanford during Winter quarter 2011. His research interests include the Enlightenment and Romantic literature, philosophy, and visual culture; the reception of classical antiquity; the history of literary theory and criticism; the conceptions of history in the 18th century, and issues in intellectual history pertaining to modernity and secularization. He is the author of The Genealogy of the Romantic Symbol (2007).
